Lent Groups 2012

The first meeting will be on Tuesday 28th February at The Church of the Resurrection and then on Tuesdays 6, 13, 20, 27 March & 3 April at Prestbury School
What does it mean to love the Lord your God, with all your heart, mind, soul and strength? To love your neighbour as yourself?
Everyone is warmly welcome to this series where we explore the challenge of these central teachings.
Each evening starts with a simple (home -made) meal.
A member of the ministry team will then talk for a few minutes, after which there’ll be questions, discussion and a chance for us all to explore.
Come for as many as you can – it’s great to have time to enjoy together, and we all learn from each other.
Parish Quiet Day
This will be on Thursday 29th March at Green Close Chapel, Pott Shrigley (next to Lyme Park)
Why a Quiet Day? It is so we can hear our own lives whispering to us and, in that sound, hear the voice of God. Our modern life tries to keep us constantly on the go and filled with noise. It’s as if we were each pools of slightly murky water: It doesn’t take much to stir up the sediment and keep visibility down. But if we let the pool settle, become still, all the gunk drifts down to the bottom and the water becomes crystal clear. Through that clarity, new visions open up: maybe prosaic glimpses (‘I really need more sleep!’); maybe profound insights (‘God sees everything about me with delight!’); maybe new possibilities (‘what about a different direction in life?’). Riches emerge when we keep still enough to notice them.
What is a Quiet Day? Our day will start with a short act of worship. A short address after the opening worship and after lunch to help us explore the riches God has to offer us. There will be conversation during lunch, and a time of sharing at the end. All the above is optional. The rest of the day we will make each other a gift of space to be with God. We can reflect, write, draw, walk in beautiful Lyme Park. Drinks and biscuits available all day, bring own lunch.
Jesus said to his disciples: 'Come away by yourselves to a lonely place' (Mark 6 v 31).
Places are limited so book early - list at the back of St. Peter's or contact Pamela.

Parish Weekend Away 2012 - dates of your Diary

Last year’s Away Weekend was a massive success, and we’ve heard from several people who couldn’t make it that they don’t want to miss coming this year. So here’s the date – Friday 19 October – Sunday 21 October. It’ll be at the same place – the Pioneer Centre at Cleobury Mortimer - and we’ve booked the whole centre, which will make it even better. If you didn’t come last year, take a look at the pictures on this website and you’ll get a taste of some of the fun we had! It will be another wonderful time to deepen friendships and enjoy ourselves.
