Rose Queen and Rose Bud - 2013

We’re delighted to announce that this year’s Rose Queen will be Victoria Riley, who has sung with the Girls’ Choir ever since she was eligible. And that her Rose Bud will be Cate Howe. Congratulations to both girls!

ReSouled Band

An early diary note – we’ll be celebrating in the evening to the fabulous live music of the band ReSouled, back by (very) popular demand! Dancing, chilling and great food from local businesses too. Don’t miss the perfect end to a proper village day.

Further details of all the Rose Queen activities and Sunday worship will appear in later bulletins. If anyone would like to help with any of the organisation, please call Sue Parker on 820293. All welcome!

The Church of the Resurrection is to celebrate 40 years since its first ever service on Sunday 23rd June. There will be a special service at 10 am when the sermon will be given by Revd. Richard Catchpole, who is the son of our first Vicar, Revd. Keith Catchpole.

In the afternoon, from 2 to 4 pm, there will be a celebration party with an exhibition of Upton Priory church and parish history, a bouncy castle and tea and cakes. All free. Please do join us

Rose Queen Floats - Saturday 15th June from 1:30pm

If you’ve read your Rock, you’ll know that the scouts are building a float for the Rose Queen parade. And that’s led us to invite every organisation, group, shop, club or family to build one too and make this year’s parade the most spectacular ever. It could be something that reflects your activity – like a wave of music or a giant cupcake – or it could be something simply gorgeous that you feel like making – like a big dragon or a host of butterflies.

Whatever you have in mind, the rules are very simple. Any material is fine – tissue, paper, card, fabric, organic or manufactured materials, but you have to transport the float yourself. Wheelbarrows and bicycles are good, but there must be no engines of any sort, everything has to be self-propelled! Please get in touch with Patrick (829288) if you’re interested – there will (of course) be a prize for the best!
